Week after week, new murals are being painted all around Kiev as a part of the ongoing ArtUnitedUs festival curated by Geo Leros, Iryna Kanishcheva and Waone Interesni Kazki. Sebas Velasco was one of the artists that recently visited the Ukrainian capital and left his mark on its urban landscape. For this piece, Spanish artist picked a selection of his personal photographs showing different images of the city featuring night lights, graffiti, typography and architecture, as well as a portrait of a friendly local that invited the artist for dinner. More focused on brush work, choice of color, line work or texture, rather than message or the story behind the image, Velasco paid tribute to local realistic painters from the beginning of the 20th century. Along with the unusual composition of this collage-like work, its the great effect of nightlights that make this work stand out, which is further accented with the neon light over the character's eyes.
